The convenient location is about the only thing I can say in Macy Mansion’s favor. Living here has been one of my most disappointing rental experiences in Metro Manila. Management, maintenance, and basic respect for tenants all fall short. We rarely ask staff for help, but when we do, some are rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I’ve also seen them sit playing games on their phones while residents need assistance. They talk and move loudly through the halls, even when people are trying to sleep. The building is in poor shape. Tiles are chipped, grout around sinks and bathrooms is dirty or crumbling, and paint covers bubbled walls. When they repaint, they put on a thick coat without sanding or priming first. Plumbing is exposed, and every day you can hear toilets flushing in units above. The air-conditioning units have no drainage, so water runs down the back of the building and contributes to heavy mosquito presence and moss buildup. The rooms aren’t soundproof either, and holiday noise can be excessive. Management allows loud music to go on nonstop for hours on Christmas and other holidays. Security is lax. There’s a fingerprint scanner at the main gate, but the entrance is almost always propped open with a rag, so anyone can walk in without verification. If you need to review CCTV footage, they charge **₱750** just to view it. That’s an unreasonable barrier to accountability. Trash is another serious problem. It’s left messy every day, and strangers are allowed to rummage through it. Rats as large as cats are not unusual in the trash area, which is a serious hygiene concern. We were never warned about utility rate increases, but one month our bill tripled. They had passed on the higher Meralco and water rates without formal notice. For people who budget carefully, that was shocking and unacceptable. Macy Mansion seems to prioritize occupancy over residents’ experience. The lack of transparency, respect, upkeep, safety, and cleanliness makes it very difficult to live here comfortably. I’d strongly advise looking at better-managed residences nearby. For the same price, you can find places that treat tenants better and maintain their facilities.
