Mountain View Cottages

Jane, thank you so much for such a lovely stay at Mountain View Cottages. The volcano view was breathtaking, and the garden was peaceful and beautiful. I loved hearing the birds each day. You were such a sweet, helpful host, and I appreciated everything you did. The scooter price was very reasonable too. Camiguin was one of my favorite places, and I hope to come back. My husband and I spent a couple of months here and really enjoyed it. The owners were friendly and accommodating. The grounds are lovely, with unusual plants to look at from early morning through evening, entertaining birds that bird lovers or ornithologists would enjoy, and beautiful fish in their aquarium. They also rent motorbikes at budget-friendly prices, which is handy for exploring the island.

The setting is a real plus: Mountain View Cottages sits in a lovely green garden, close to the circumferential road but far enough away for a quiet night's sleep. Henry is around often, looks after the property, and is a friendly person to talk with. He also rents scooters at a fair price. The cottages have plenty of space, though they're showing their age and could use some updating. The bathroom would look better with a simple new toilet seat. There’s no outlet beside the bed or bedside light, so reading means getting up to switch on the main room light. Room service isn’t regular either. I had to ask for fresh sheets and towels after a week. The cottage has a Wi-Fi router, but the landline connection sometimes drops out. My Smart SIM card usually worked better. For what’s offered, I found the cottage price too high, so I can only give it three stars.

We stayed here for four days in September 2022. The grounds were clean and peaceful, and the hostess was friendly. There’s a bedroom, shower and toilet, plus a kitchen where you can make your own meals. Markets and shops are nearby. Air conditioning and a fan are provided, along with clean sheets, towels, and toiletries. The internet was weak but available. There’s no safe in the cottage. Scooters can be rented for 300 pesos, handy for visiting the waterfalls and getting around the island.
