I booked a hostel bedspace, but it was already full, even though the owner had told me in our online conversation that I could check in. The owner also said I wouldn’t need a medical certificate, but the staff said I did. That first interaction was disappointing. I had to stay the night anyway because I needed to wake up early, so I booked a single room instead. The staff said a medical certificate wasn’t required for that room. Absurd! The single room was enough for one person, with a bed, table and chair, hangers, small cabinets, and its own light. There was air-conditioning, but I couldn’t control it from my room. I don’t know where it was set, but it was so cold I just slept through it. The plywood walls let me hear the neighboring room, and even smell what they were cooking. I didn’t make it up to the rooftop. Food stalls are around the accommodation, and restaurants are a few hundred meters’ walk away. I liked being able to pay electronically at the counter, and you can book a reservation too. For hygiene, some rooms share a separate shower and toilet. I couldn’t find a sink for my room, so I brushed my teeth at the nearest one I could see. There was an external bidet, which was good, and a roll of tissue. The next morning I skated to Manila Bay. The roads made it easy to get around, and the hotel is a few hundred meters from the LrT-1 station.

A quiet, peaceful place to stay in Manila, with friendly staff and clean rooms. You can do laundry here too. The only downside I noticed is that it’s quite far from transportation, though that might suit you if you don’t like crowded places.

I like that every bunk bed comes with its own locker, which is handy when several guests share a room. It’s disappointing that the toilet and bath are shared by the floor instead of being in each room.

My husband arrived at Sea's Boat Hostel for the stay I booked, but the place was closed. I had paid for three days, May 2, 2022 to May 3, 2022, and the charge went through on my card. I tried the contact number in their email, but it was out of coverage. This is a scam.
