Our stay at The Manila Hotel was for my wife's alumni event, and things went smoothly from check-in to the end. We paid ₱6,500 for a well-kept room with a huge, comfortable bed and a lovely view of historic Intramuros. There was a fruit tray, complimentary mini-bar snacks and drinks, utensils, bathrobes, and slippers. The bathroom was spotless, with good toiletries and plenty of clean towels. Breakfast at Café Ilang-Ilang was included, and it's still one of the city's best buffets. I spent the afternoon in the Lobby Lounge while my wife got ready. The atmosphere there is hard to beat. The staff were attentive and professional, and they helped me work out that my Senior Citizen discount was a better deal than the restaurant discounts. Wi-Fi worked well, and we could stream Netflix and YouTube with our own accounts. There weren't international news channels like CNN on the TV, but streaming our shows made up for it.

The staff across the hotel were incredibly kind, respectful, and helpful, and we had a wonderful stay. We arrived from the USA and spent six nights in a superior club room on the 15th floor, with access to the Executive Club. The room and bathroom were clean, though dated and due for some refurbishing. Our two twin beds were very small. The lounge is small but pleasant, with breakfast, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, tea time, light happy-hour snacks, and a limited selection of beer, wine, and spirits. For breakfast, we could choose the club level or the very good buffet at Ilang Ilang Cafe. Walking around from the hotel isn't ideal, but taxis and Grab are easy to get. Intramuros and the oldest China town, Binondo, are a Grab ride away. We ate excellent dim-sum at Red Jade. The Lobby lounge has a varied menu, including Filipino dishes, and good Pastry. There's also the Champagne lounge.

My husband slipped and fell face first while getting out of the pool. The hotel should put a non-slip mat by the pool stairs, and they offered no compensation for the accident. That was one part of a very disappointing stay. We booked at Manila Hotel to celebrate his 70th birthday and our 45th wedding anniversary. Reception was chaotic: check-in was at 2:00pm, six staff members went on break, and twelve people were left in line. The Manager was nowhere to be seen. We ordered lunch by the pool, and I had the worst club sandwich of my life, despite having traveled globally and lived in many countries. When we tried to charge the meal to our room, they asked whether we'd made a deposit at the front desk. Reception said a lump sum deposit was required, and that getting any balance refunded would take time. What a STUPID system? This is MANILA HOTEL. We left very disappointed and unsatisfied.

We booked three rooms two weeks ahead for a family staycation to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary, and I was disappointed with the room arrangements. We had clearly asked for higher floors, and one room meant for a couple had two single beds. Wow. The buffet and service at Ilang Ilang Cafe were amazing, though. I'm a Prestige member, pero olats, never again 🙄 Feb 27- Mar 01 2026 👎👎👎

The hotel is huge and gets very crowded, so it isn't the place for a quiet, slow stay. Still, I had a wonderful experience. The staff were exceptional, the food was incredible, and the morning buffet had just about every option you could imagine. We enjoyed live music at the Tap Room throughout the evening. The pool and sauna were great, too. A really amazing luxury stay.
