RedDoorz Hostel @ Popoy's Backpackers Mati

There was plenty of car parking, plus space for bikes, and outdoor washrooms for visitors coming back from the beach. The rooms were clean, and we had no problem sharing the toilet and bath. Staff were accommodating, and there's free Wi-Fi. They offer bed and breakfast, though we left early and didn't try the breakfast. I'd recommend this place for backpackers like us.

They're a dorm or backpacker type of place, with two sets of bunk beds. You might share the room with another group, though last time we had it to ourselves. There are four-door wooden lockers for valuables. The room was clean, the AC was cold, the shared toilet and bath were fine, the staff were polite, and the location was prime. The water smelled rusty, though I'm not sure if all of Mati has the same issue. They do provide free drinking water. Keep your expectations in check: for 399, breakfast is included, with two pieces of chorizo, egg, and rice. That's not bad.

We were two when we visited, so we didn't have to share the room's other two beds with strangers. There are four beds in an air-conditioned room, and the bathroom is shared. For a backpacker, it's fine. The per-person price is affordable and includes breakfast.

We booked a private room for three, with two bunk beds, working AC, a window, a simple mirror, and cabinets. The price was very affordable and reasonable, and breakfast and Wi-Fi were included. Bathrooms are shared. We didn't take many photos because we were usually out exploring Mati.
