The beach itself was decent, and getting to the resort in Subic was easy. Still, the place was much busier than we expected. The beachfront and shared areas felt packed, so finding a quiet spot to unwind was difficult. We also ate at the restaurant, where large flies kept coming near our food and landing around it. The staff lit two candles to try to deal with them, but they kept bothering us throughout the meal. It made eating there uncomfortable. Visiting on a quieter day might have made for a better stay.

The best part for me was snorkeling. There were lots of fish around the beach, which is a fish sanctuary where fishing isn't allowed. The breakfast buffet was good, though not outstanding. Our room reservation was a stressful start. We booked a deluxe room through Agoda two weeks ahead for three nights and four days, and Agoda had already charged our card and sent confirmation. But when we arrived, the resort couldn't find the booking in its system. They let us stay as walk-ins and said they'd follow up with Agoda. I couldn't shake the feeling that our reserved room had been given away and they had to find another deluxe room for us. Next time, I'd book through the resort's own website and call to confirm. The property feels run down and overdue for major repairs. The bathroom needs renovation, and the sink faucet sticks out so far that it gets in the way when brushing your teeth. They were also very strict about towels and toilet paper, giving only one at a time, and the toiletries were limited for the price.

The beach was clean and kept up well, and the breakfast buffet was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. I booked a Deluxe room this time, and it was much better than the superior room I had last year. The WiFi didn't work properly, though, and I had trouble connecting.

The mornings brought the most memorable part of our stay: monkeys roaming around and interacting with people. The staff explained what to expect and reminded guests about the monkeys, which made those encounters fun and charming. We also had a comfortable, worry-free three days and two nights. Rheinard was especially attentive and upbeat, and everyone we met was friendly and accommodating. There was occasional WiFi downtime, particularly when lots of guests were connected to the free networks around the property. The facilities show some age, but the atmosphere is still relaxing. Parking is spacious, and the hotel is right beside Ocean Adventure, about 5 km from Zoobic Safari. That worked well for exploring Subic with family. We'd gladly recommend it.

The beach is still beautiful, but the way this place is being run has changed how I feel about it. I used to come back often and even celebrated my toddler's second birthday here. I can't recommend it to friends or family anymore, and I hope management takes the feedback seriously before more returning guests feel the same. The biggest concern was the lack of anyone in charge when problems came up. No operations or front office manager appeared during the towel issue, the blackout, or checkout. Tonie helped us check out and was still cheerful and helpful. While we were there, another guest was angrily saying their air conditioning didn't work, was leaking, and no one answered their calls. It sounded much like our own experience. I also saw a woman Tonie had consulted about a billing matter, but she didn't step in when guests complained, so I don't know if she was a manager or if there was one. On our second night, the power failed around 9 PM and the whole resort went dark. The restaurant lights came back after a few minutes, but the rooms and hallways stayed black for about 20 minutes. The lights flickered off briefly again before returning, and the emergency lights never came on. The phones were dead, and none of the mobile numbers the front desk had given us answered. It was alarming. We also had repeated trouble with basic room service. I asked for cleaning before we went out, but came back to no towels. Staff said they couldn't find any in the room, although I'd left two wet ones near the TV. After several calls to the front desk and housekeeping, two towels were delivered, with the implication that we'd taken them. When I raised it again, staff got defensive instead of apologizing. The refrigerator had also been switched off, leaving my toddler's milk warm. They suggested it might have been turned off while replenishing items, which made no sense to me. The next day I watched the cleaning. Staff first counted two wet towels when there were three. I asked for three clean ones, but only two were left. When I called them back to count, they spotted the mistake and apologized. Having to supervise something so basic was exhausting. Service at breakfast also slipped. The first morning was pleasant and the staff were friendly, but by the second breakfast even my husband noticed the change. The captain who had been friendly the day before avoided eye contact. He asked someone to make our sunny side up eggs, but they never arrived before we finished eating. At our last breakfast, with the restaurant full, the same captain asked if we were checking out that day or the next just after I'd gotten a pancake. The timing felt unnecessary and inappropriate. Our arrival had gone smoothly: Tonie was polite, remembered my request not to be placed in a room at the far end, and the first day went well. But the later service problems and lack of leadership overshadowed that. This resort has potential, but the management and guest service have clearly declined.
