Ranchotel Alabang

The room was untidy, there was no hot water for the shower, and the pillows were disgusting. When we asked for help with the AC because it was too hot, they told us to wait 15-30 minutes and did nothing. Really poor service, this place doesn’t deserve even one star.

The room was about 5x7 feet, with a 3 x 5 foot bathroom linked to the bedroom by a narrow 2.5 feet passage. The sheets were clean, but the walls were dirty, and there was a urine smell as soon as we entered. A hot water heater was there, though it seemed disabled to save electricity. We arrived at 2AM and this was the only “hotel” that would take us. It feels set up for a two-hour stay. Service was very poor, or absent. The security guard slept at night, then in the morning watched a video on his phone in a corner of reception, with the fan blowing right at him.

The bed frame they gave us was broken, and my friend fell when she sat down. We couldn’t reach reception by phone, even after pressing 0, and there were no instructions. The elevator was broken too. Not a good choice. Sogo is still better, even if it costs a little more, and has good rooms.

When we asked why housekeeping hadn’t come, we were first told the staff hadn’t arrived on time. Five minutes later, my girlfriend called reception and got a different explanation: they don’t clean if our personal belongings are left unattended. I’ve stayed in hotels for 30 years and never heard that before. In the Philippines, it’s common for staff to tell customers all sorts of lies. 👎
