My four-night Agoda Booking ended up being cut to two nights. The property wouldn’t honor the booking, saying its prices had changed and insisting I pay extra. I refused. The staff were unfriendly, and the manager wouldn’t speak with me in person. It’s not open 24 hours, either. If you arrive too early or too late, no one will receive you. The whole thing felt shady, almost like a scam.

The front desk experience was a nightmare from the start. We booked several separate days in November, and the staff said the online booking prices didn’t match the actual prices. That was the first red flag. We didn’t mind paying extra for the room we’d booked. On our first visit, a staff member showed us Room 105. When we came back for our actual stay, the same person said we had booked a different room from the one we paid for, and that the room we wanted was occupied. It was confusing and the second red flag. There was also construction going on. We paid for a room hoping for peace and quiet, but couldn’t relax with the noise. That was another problem. We’d paid online and handed over another thousand pesos as a security deposit, but the same rude staff member gave us no receipt acknowledging it. The worst part was that this staff member shouted at my 66-year-old mom. She was arrogant and condescending, acting like a guard, and wasn’t wearing a mask during the shouting match. It was the worst experience, and you couldn’t pay me to stay at this 'hotel' again. We’re still in a pandemic, but neither of the two hotel staff wore masks. There was no alcohol on site or temperature check, and they didn’t ask for our vaccination cards. The place itself might have been okay, but the staff experience was awful.

We expected the new building, but it was full and we were taken to an old one instead. Our room had no television, and although we detected a Wi-Fi signal and asked staff about it, they told us there was no Wi-Fi. The A/C was so noisy that we asked to switch rooms. In the next room, we later found a really dirty bathroom floor and a broken showerhead, which was missing from the shower. We found it inside a cabinet. We were meant to stay five days but cut the visit short by one day because of the inconveniences.

This was the second time they asked me to pay extra because my Agoda booking price didn’t match theirs. I thought the first time was just a glitch because of a special occasion. The service was very poor. The A/C in my room was faulty. Instead of moving me to a room with working A/C, the attendant made a comment that sounded like they were blaming me for not turning it off when I went out to eat. I spent the whole night using the fan. The internet was VERY SLOOOOOOWWW!
