We came back with guests after a good visit about ten years ago, and this time was a complete disappointment. Check-in was awful: even though we arrived on time, our room was late, and many other guests were waiting too. The price feels high for what you get. The rooms may be dated, but the dirt is a bigger problem. There was dust, stains on the curtains and walls, a foul-smelling clogged bathroom, and a leaking AC. At least the AC got cold. We asked for housekeeping, but they only picked up trash and mess. They didn't make the bed, sweep, or replace towels and toiletries. The pool was cloudy, with foam along the sides, and leaves and torn day-pass badges still floating there the next day. I doubt it's cleaned daily. There's no room service, not enough staff to help, and the food wasn't good. The restaurant looked closed. Our guests hated it too. We wouldn't expect so much if it were cheap, but at this price it isn't worth it.

The beach is nice, and the staff were kind and friendly, but the resort needs serious work before it feels suitable for a relaxing stay. The rooms were filthy and neglected, especially the shower and toilet, which were dirty, smelly, and unhygienic. It needs renovation and deep cleaning. Breakfast was stressful. There weren't enough plates, cutlery, glasses, coffee, water, or food for the number of guests. Basic items kept running out, and we queued for half an hour. An extra person costs P600, which didn't feel worth it. Pool towels were also unavailable much of the time. There are major cleanliness, maintenance, and operating problems. I'd avoid the place until it has substantial renovations and service improvements.

The resort was crowded when we arrived, and some buildings looked old. Food prices were high, and the TV in our room wasn't very good. Still, we had a fun, relaxing stay, and the beach was a highlight. The white sand and peaceful views made it feel like a proper escape. The resort sits right by the beach and has a nice pool. Staff and reception were welcoming and accommodating. There was plenty to do, including kayaking, banana boat rides, jet skiing, and the floating parkour amenities. Parking was spacious, with options for day visitors and hotel guests. For a beach break near Manila, it was well worth visiting, especially if you don't want to travel all the way to Boracay.

The best part was the sheet lightning over the sky, with the fire dancing at the main pool around 7.45pm coming second. The pools were fine and the beach was clean, but watch for sharp coral shells when entering the water. Rubber slippers would help. Our so-called “Superior Room” was clean and the beds were comfortable, but basic maintenance was awful. The door lock didn't work, so we had to use a rusty chain. The safe was locked shut, the balcony slider was nearly impossible to open and close, and there was no hot shower water. A shower door handle was about to fall off, a towel hanger was barely attached, and there were drill holes and exposed wires behind open socket holes. The beds creaked, and the refrigerator was packed with ice, as if it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The food and drinks were a very low point. The private food stalls outside were overpriced and best avoided. Breakfast in the main “restaurant” was disgraceful, worse than school or university cafeteria food. Overall value wasn't terrible, but it could have been much better with even basic upkeep over the past two decades. The catering staff should have to try what they serve. We won't return. Canyon Cove Hotel could be an excellent resort for a short break, but the poor upkeep and food make it very hit and miss.
