Sand Bar Beach Resort

The cottages had lots of flies, and our room had a problem with the water pipe. Haha. Still, we enjoyed snorkeling. There’s a spacious parking area, and trying some of the activities outside the water could make the visit more fun.

The rain kept us from exploring much, but the lifeguard was attentive, warning everyone when it looked like rain and making sure swimmers got out once it started pouring. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and most were our friends from the LGBTQ+ community. Breakfast is free, and both the rice and other food were good. They also have a shared kitchen, plus a paluto option for families or friend groups who didn’t bring food.

The staff were the one good part of this stay. We decided not to stay overnight because the bathroom smelled, and after ordering food, we found out half an hour later that none was available. For the same price, we could have found a better room elsewhere. It was a really bad experience, and I wouldn't return.

The beach was clean and looked well cared for, and the trip was okay overall. The facilities need more attention, though. Green moss had built up on the shower heads used to rinse off sand and salt, and uneven pavement left my wife with a bad scrape on her knees. There wasn't even a first aid kit ready. The restaurant was closed because the chef had the day off, so we were left wondering where to get food. I hope they clean and maintain the facilities better.
