Arizona Beach Resort

The place had taken extensive damage in a typhoon early last year and was for sale. There was no floating bar, despite what the pictures showed, and the pool was green. The grounds were torn up, the bar was trashed, and all the trim on the hotel had been torn off. No one had gone out to take new pictures yet. I booked six days and left on the third.

The restaurant is open for all meals, the cook does a bang-up job, and service was fast and efficient. It’s right on the beach, about 20 meters from the water, and there’s an associated dive resort that’s quite popular. The fare was a bit pricey. The hotel itself is tired and old, and the rooms need maintenance. We first checked into #10 and got mild shocks when using the metal ball valve that controls water through the instantaneous heater. I reported it to the front desk and showed the maintenance guy, then we were moved to #7. That room had similar inconveniences. The analogue A/C was hard to set to a comfortable temperature quickly. The cable box had four LEDs as bright as a 50 watt bulb, and turning it off only changed one green light to red. A single ball valve, mounted rather high, controls the heater, so there’s no mixing hot and cold water to adjust the temperature. There’s an electric kettle, but its cord won’t reach the closed socket. Only two outlets were unused, and one was under a cabinet near floor level, shared with the mini refrigerator. The common head in the parking area had a broken door hinge and was unkempt. The head by the bar/game room was just as filthy. The pool table needs new felt and leveling; the cues were decent, but the only bridge was broken.

I took 13 family members on 24-25 April 2025. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the rooms were clean and in good working order. The food took a while, which was understandable with so many orders at once, but it was tasty and well prepared. The kitchen and servers did a great job. I never give a straight 5 rating. I prefer to let my words describe the experience. Use the on-site BDO ATM at your own risk. My card was captured, then the machine said it was unavailable. That wasn’t the resort’s fault.

The view from the floating bar just off the shore was fantastic, and the drinks were cold. I didn’t stay at the resort, but I did have food there. Even though it came from the resort, it was still hot and fresh when it reached us. The staff were all polite and friendly.
