Chequers Suites

I haven't stayed at Chequers Suites myself yet, but a dear friend recently gave it a glowing review, and I think it's worth sharing since people often only post negative feedback. They described it as peaceful and welcoming, with helpful staff and self-contained apartments that feel like a home away from home for short or long stays. It's also a good base for exploring the area and then coming back to relax. That's exactly what I'm looking for. From what I've heard, Chequers Suites is high on my list for a future trip.

We stayed two nights, from Dec. 20 to 22. The unit was large and fully furnished, with a bedroom, toilet, and combined living, dining, and kitchen area. The AC was cool, and the housekeeping and restaurant staff were friendly and responsive. The problems were upkeep and cleanliness. The pool was dirty, and I asked them to clean it three times during the day on Dec. 21. It still had lots of bugs on Dec. 22, and none of my three companions got to use it during our stay. There was a cockroach in our unit and mosquitoes in the other one. The washing machine was dirty, especially the spot for laundry powder and fabcon. Breakfast was underwhelming for the price, and the internet was weak. It has the potential to be a favorite hotel in Subic, but right now it falls short on cleanliness and maintenance.

The rooms are spacious, with hot water, a bidet, and Netflix. The service staff were really kind and happy to accommodate our requests.

I just finished a two month stay at Chequers, and it was a welcome change from the usual hotel experience in Subic Bay. The AC was ice cold, the shower water very hot for waking up in the morning, and every room had a 5 gallon water station with free refills, fast internet, and a streaming box. I couldn't have asked for a more comfortable stay. The hotel staff were always pleasant and helpful, maintenance responded quickly, and housekeeping was superb. Thanks to the owner Peter and his staff for making my stay outstanding.
