Julz Tropical Apartments

The apartment was tidy, comfortable, and had everything I needed in the small kitchen, including an induction cooking plate. The aircon was modern, cooled very well, and ran quietly. At night, there's a decent blue lighting mode. From the room, you can step straight onto the balcony, where you could have a cigarette, for example. The bathroom has a large bathtub and plenty of hot water from the heater outside. The beach and its restaurants are about 40 meters away, roughly a minute's walk, so they're close while the room stays quiet at night. Lucky Mike supermarket is around 100 meters down the beach road for drinks and daily needs. Mike is really friendly, and the prices there are absolutely reasonable. I enjoyed my stay and would come back any time I'm in Olongapo / Subic.

We stayed here for two months, and getting to the beach is easy, about a two-minute walk from the room. We had room #1, which was great, with a good bed and everything already there for cooking. The bathroom was good as well. The host is kind and friendly, and whenever I needed her, she was there.

Date of stay: June 01-02, 2019 I would book again. Luz, the caretaker, was approachable when I collected the key, and staff responded to SMS. The aircon worked well, with a spare stand fan in the room that we didn't need. The bathroom had a bathtub with hot and cold water, and the kitchen was well equipped with a fridge, rice cooker, microwave oven, induction cooker, toaster, plates, glass, and pots. A few downsides: the wifi didn't work, and the room wasn't spotless. Some areas were dusty, and the bed was sandy. There was no bidet, just a dipper (tabo), and no basic toiletries. Neighbors played loud videoke late at night, so bring earplugs. I'd also suggest planning your meals and buying groceries before you arrive, and bringing your own shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, and toothbrush.

The apartment had a clean, modern feel, a comfortable queen-size bed, and just about everything you could want: microwave, kettle, induction hotplate, rice cooker, TV, wifi, a large bathroom with a combined bath and shower, modern toilet, table and chairs, two armchairs, and a balcony with its own table and chairs. I slept well, enjoyed a hot shower, and relaxed. The problems came each morning: there was no water, and a brownout meant the pump wasn't running. The TV wouldn't tune in, so I could only watch YouTube, though I did find some interesting programs there that I might not usually have seen. I won't comment on the beach or facilities, except to say this place isn't suitable for children. I'll report separately on that.
