Subic Bay Hostel & Dormitory

Clean, affordable, and one of the best hostels I've seen in the Philippines. My only issue was the cold. You can turn down the air-con in your room, but it still doesn't feel warm enough.

We'd booked through someone who works there, and even though our group was more than 10hc and arrived early, they let us check in early without any extra fees. The men's and women's dorms are on separate floors. There's a lounge and dining area where you can charge devices, watch TV, eat, or hang out before going down the room hallway. The shower and toilet areas are separate, and the showers come with heating, shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner. There was tissue in the toilet, too. Everything was straightforward and accommodating, and we enjoyed our stay.

It's a quiet, cheap place to relax, with no big crowds and good security. There are convenience shops nearby and the beach is close, though you can't swim there. Big hotels are around, too. For a traveler, though, it's 1.5km from the city and there's no public transport. The room was small. There's hot water in the morning, but it wasn't very hot and the flow wasn't powerful.

The capsule beds were among the best I've tried, and the amenities are top-notch. Men and women have separate rooms, which is nice. It's one of the least expensive stays in Subic and close to the beach and Moonbay resort. There are a lot of rules, but for this price they're reasonable. It's a bit away from the main Subic shopping area, about a 15 minute walk to Harbor Point Mall and SM Olongapo. There's a Ministop nearby.
