I regret leaving Seafari to stay here. The room was horrible: the air conditioner roared louder than any I’ve heard, the bed and pillows weren’t comfortable, and the shower was unreliable. The location also wasn’t good for me, since it’s neither on the beach nor close to restaurants. For almost the same price, Seafari next door has seafront pools and a much more comfortable room. I booked Joaquim's lodge because people said they were very helpful and that you could skip the line for only 100. That part was true, but I don’t think you really need someone to help at the whale shark place, since everything there is straightforward. Phin is nice, though other prices we asked him about later seemed higher. The bakery was just okay, with no sandwiches, cheese, or anything special.

The owner made the biggest impression on us. He was so kind and helpful, smiling as he arranged a shark-watching tour, cheap motorcycles to get to Tumalog Falls, a cheap trip to Simalog Island, and even our bus to Cebu. Definitely the best person we met in the Philippines! We stayed one night after coming from Cebu to see the whale sharks. The room was decent, the price was good, and the place was pleasant and peaceful. The bakery is amazing, open 24/7 with delicious pastries, cocktails, and plenty of coffee choices. Pastries start at just 5 PHP. The staff were very friendly too.

Finn gets my five stars! I’m an older solo traveller, and he couldn’t have been more helpful. He arranged Tumalog Falls, the monkeys, and the whale sharks for me. My stay ended up longer than expected because of topical depression, and he found me another hotel with a pool, then kept in touch and continued helping. The room itself was big, clean, and perfectly functional, but Finn made the stay fantastic. One of the best hosts I’ve ever met!

The bakery is open around the clock, with fresh baked goods, good coffee, and drinks. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and quiet, and there’s parking. It’s a two-minute drive to the Whale Shark area, close to Tumalog Falls, and a nice café is within walking distance. Other waterfalls are convenient to visit too. Joaquim’s Lodge & Bakehouse exceeded my expectations for the location and price. A great place to stay for whale sharks or Tumalog Falls, highly recommended.

The place was clean and quiet, and kuya Fhin was so accommodating. He also became our tour guide and was the reason we enjoyed our Oslob trip. Thank you kuya ❤️. The bessstttt, highly recommended!
