Chibel Summer Riverside Resort

I’d avoid this place. The road there is rough, it’s far from the busy part of town, and the rooms weren’t clean or ready even though we arrived for a late check-in. Water sometimes stopped running, the washroom drain clogged, and there was no hot water or even a waste bin. The Google photos are misleading, there are virtually no amenities, and customer service was hopeless. Not worth the hassle.

The beach is a long way off, though you can rent the hotel’s van and either drive it yourself or have the driver take you and pick you up. Bring your own drinking water; you can keep it in their fridge. The air conditioning worked well, but we had several power cuts during our first few days. Starlink was unreliable, so I had to switch to Smart5G to work. Some rooms were also being renovated.

We’d booked two days ahead, but on arrival the staff said there were no rooms available. We waited nearly an hour while they got one ready, with no real urgency or solution offered. The staff member kept saying, “There are no vacancies right now,” and blaming the booking app. We were eventually given a room, but were told we’d have to move the next day because someone else was due to occupy it. They seemed short-staffed.

The road gets pretty bumpy for a short stretch, so inexperienced bikers might find it tricky. Still, being away from the busy town center was nice. We spent six nights here and had a great stay. The hosts gave us useful recommendations and the staff were lovely. Our room was very clean, and the pool was fresh and well cared for. Breakfast was cooked to order, with scrambled eggs, toast, and fruit. Really tasty.
