Hibiscus Garden Inn

Hibiscus Garden is a little green hideaway, with rooms tucked into a lovely garden beside the pool. The restaurant is genuinely good, too, and it’s a nice place to settle in before exploring Palawan or relax before heading home. Puerto Princesa itself isn’t exactly peaceful or glamorous, so the resort feels like an oasis. My one complaint is the airport transfer fee for a trip of just 1km. I think that should be a courtesy ride. Still, nothing’s perfect, except my grandmother, obviously.

The pool was a welcome break from the heat, with towels available whenever we needed them. It looked especially lovely lit up at night, and there was a hammock outside our room for a quiet hour. We spent three nights at Hibiscus Garden Resort after coming from El Nido, and check-in was easy. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with good air-con and plenty of storage. Though it’s near food places and tricycles know the resort well, the rooms sit away from the road and were quiet at night. Staff were always welcoming. We could charge meals at the on-site restaurant to our room and pay by card at checkout. We had a great stay and would recommend it for a few days in Puerto Princesa.

A shame we only had one night here. The beds and rooms were comfortable, and the garden and pool felt cozy and inviting. The bar staff were friendly, and the signature cocktails were good. Definitely recommend.

The restaurant was a highlight, with tasty food at very good prices, and the staff were kind and attentive throughout. Both rooms we used were comfortable, and the hotel itself is beautiful and well located. My first visit to the Philippines began with a late arrival after flying from Europe to Palawan, but everything was smooth and welcoming from the start. There were a few guests smoking, drinking, and being loud around the pool, which sometimes made it hard to relax quietly. That seemed like bad luck rather than a problem with the hotel. It was a fantastic stay, and I’d gladly return to Puerto Princesa and recommend the resort.
