Wombats Beach Resort

The staff saved our stay from turning into a nightmare by upgrading us to one of the best rooms in the house, though they still charged a few hundred pesos more. I booked through AirBnb, and the flowery description didn't match what we found. We felt deceived. Would I come back? No.

The food was tasty, reasonably priced, and came in good portions, but we waited close to an hour for four burgers. I wish the staff had spent more time looking after diners instead of playing billiards or chatting. The neighboring table even got their food before their silverware, then had to wait two more minutes for it. We stayed overnight and booked two rooms. They were clean. My room had a fridge, safe, cable TV, and spotty wifi. Wifi worked in the hallways and restaurant/lobby, but not in our rooms. Getting around was easy, with beach and main road access and stores open 24/7 nearby.

The free breakfast was tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Owner Wayne knew the area well and always seemed to have the right answer when I asked. I was hesitant after reading reviews, but a friend recommended the place, so I booked. Check-in was quick and efficient, and the front of the place had just been renovated. It felt comfortable, with a nice bar area, new snooker table, and air conditioning throughout. The room exceeded my expectations: a big comfortable bed, large flat-screen TV, plenty of hanging space, neat bathroom, new Air/con unit, and a safe. For around $30 Dollars Australian, it was amazing. They also had fan rooms for a lot less. I'd recommend this place without hesitation.

The room was okay and very affordable. At 1090php, I wish the bathroom had an exhaust fan. We also weren't sure if the bathroom mirror was one-way, so blinds or curtains would have been good.
