The Lighthouse Marina Resort

Even though I booked a month ahead, they gave me a room with a wall for a long-stay guest. Guest room service was good, though. The restaurant was inflexible and handled my request in a way I found unethical. I asked to swap garlic rice for mashed potatoes. Instead of asking me to pay the 50 peso difference, they said I had to order a separate mashed potatoes. Only after I explained how disappointed I was did they say they could make the change for free.

The staff were super friendly, as Filipino people are. The hotel itself is really nice, with good rooms and breakfast. I just wish they'd turn the restaurant music down a bit, especially in the morning.

We appreciated the room upgrade and liked the food, but checking out left us feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. Staff asked whether we'd packed a missing rubber door stopper by mistake. Three of them approached us at once, which felt overwhelming and inappropriate. We hadn't even realized it was something to look out for, since at most hotels door stoppers are fixed to a wall or floor rather than left loose. I offered to go back upstairs and look for it to ease the tension, but they said there was no need. We weren't charged, yet the way they dealt with it felt excessive and humiliating. I'm not sure if other guests overheard. We've never had anything like this happen at another hotel, and it left me wondering whether local guests get less courtesy. The incident made a lasting negative impression.

The beach is beside a docking yacht area. They say it passed safety tests, but it was very dirty, with plastic shampoo sachets and other trash on the sand and in the water. The activities, including pickleball, the bouncy water park, and banana boat, all cost extra, and the prices are expensive. Our shower head was covered in mold. When we asked for swimming towels, staff told us the lifeguard was busy and we'd have to wait. The lifeguard seemed to just be hanging around like a boy. I put the decorative pillows on the floor because they were so dirty, and housekeeping simply put them back on the bed. Ew.
