The beach casitas are a lovely splurge: you step straight onto your own stretch of clear-water beach, and there’s miles of shoreline if you want to find some quiet. The island views are stunning from both the lagoon and sunset sides, and the rooms feel like a little paradise. Claire looked after us with thoughtful, personal service, and staff everywhere were working hard and greeting guests. Even the general manager and guest services representative waved goodbye as our flight left, a really classy touch. We had some terrific meals, especially the Japanese food at Lagoon Club and the delicious Filipino feast during private dining. The Kawayan bar was a highlight too, with colorful fish coming up through the water as the waves rolled nearby, while we snorkeled and ordered cocktails. There’s room to improve the food and beverage offering in some areas, though. The resort is relaxed and family-oriented, so I wouldn’t automatically pick it for a honeymoon. There are plenty of quiet spots, but evenings could use more music-based entertainment. A complimentary welcome glass of champagne would be nice, and while the house acoustic guitarist was very good, the overall atmosphere is low-key. If you like dressing up, you may feel out of place, and an option for a more upscale dinner would suit some guests. We had an incredible stay, and it’s worth every penny if you can afford it.

The setting, facilities, and atmosphere at this independent luxury resort were beautiful, and most of our family vacation felt close to perfect. But five of the six of us had severe gastrointestinal symptoms during or just after the stay. Three were already sick before our return flight, and we needed medical treatment as soon as we got home. The physical discomfort has been significant. We contacted the resort promptly and got a courteous first response, but several days have passed without another update or follow-up. We can’t say what caused the illness, but the lack of proactive communication was disappointing. For a high-end independent property, we expected a timely response and careful review of a guest health concern. It’s a shame that a nearly perfect holiday ended this way. I hope management takes the feedback seriously and reviews the relevant hygiene and safety procedures for future guests.

The team is what makes this island feel so special. Everyone we met was warm, attentive, and professional, and many staff members come from neighboring islands, which gives the place a real sense of community. When a major typhoon meant we had to leave early, they rearranged our flights and transfers smoothly and without adding stress. We did lose a night to the storm, but the memories were worth far more. We came back after seven years, this time as a family of three with our 9-year-old son. The resort had thoughtfully put us in the very same Beach Casita as before, which made the return feel special right from the start. The property has changed in lovely ways, with upgraded facilities that add to its sophistication. Our son loved the beach, the comfortable casita, and the welcoming staff. We all enjoyed the quality dining, handy buggie, and thoughtfully planned activities. We’re already looking forward to visiting again.

We left feeling relaxed, thanks to the stunning island and the staff, who were genuinely friendly and attentive throughout. Amanpulo’s powder-white sand and clear turquoise water are every bit as beautiful as the pictures. The casita and the rest of the resort, though, need a full renovation and update. The rooms feel quite old, with furnishings and decor that don’t meet modern luxury expectations. That dated feel carries into the shared spaces too, taking away from the exclusivity and comfort we expected from a property with this reputation. The food was good, but the menus didn’t offer enough choice or variety, particularly for a longer visit. We wanted more varied dining options to go with the setting. With the amount of remodeling and menu expansion needed, the resort currently falls short of its legendary status and price point.

The snorkeling and diving were stunning, with plenty of wildlife, including lots of large, majestic turtles. The beaches and grounds were kept beautifully, and our room was lovely. We also ate really well. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to make the stay better. They seem to have thought of everything. I honestly can’t think of anything that would have improved our time there. It’s pure luxury, and we’ll definitely be back.
