BE Grand Resort Bohol

My husband proposed to me here, and the resort arranged a wonderful setup. I felt the warmth of their hospitality, especially when an excellent guide showed me around the entire resort. Check-in was easy and hassle-free, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Of all the hotels I've checked into internationally, this was the best in Bohol. Thank you, BEGrand. The food and drinks were excellent, and every meal seemed thoughtfully prepared. The staff kept us comfortable and well looked after. From their warm hospitality to the smooth, well-maintained facilities, the service felt professional and caring. There's a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive, with scenery to enjoy whether you're unwinding or exploring. The resort has nearly all the amenities you'd want, and the experience felt worth the price, with even a little extra. Definitely somewhere I'd recommend to people visiting Bohol.

The reception area, grounds, pools, and beachfront are beautiful, and the staff throughout the Philippines have been polite and friendly, including here. But the rooms, service, and upkeep didn't come close to the price or the 5-star rating. We paid over $400 AUD per night per room and this felt much more like a 3-star hotel. We arrived at check-in time and were first put in old, poorly maintained ocean-view rooms. Paint was peeling, doors and furniture were scratched, luggage areas stained, floors dirty, there was hair in the sink and mould in the bath, paint on the sheets, and old gray towels with stains. Renovations downstairs and in the hallway also made the rooms smell strongly of paint. We showed reception photos and reported everything, then waited more than an hour while staff looked for alternatives. The renovated rooms on a lower floor had a different layout, but they were dirty too, with stained carpets, dirty floors, and old stained towels. We went back to reception and waited again. We asked for a manager but were told nobody was available until the next morning. Housekeeping cleaned the floors and brought replacement towels, though those were still old and gray. After a long travel day, we'd spent around six hours dealing with room problems. One restaurant had lots of menu items crossed out, leaving very few choices, so we eventually ate at the Food Hall. The next morning, the manager kindly offered us a two-bedroom villa, but it didn't suit our needs. They arranged more cleaning and the rooms improved a little, though cleanliness and maintenance still fell well short of expectations. Poolside service was painfully slow too: we waited over an hour for food and drinks when almost nobody else was around the pool or restaurant. After a lovely day out, we came back to rooms full of toxic paint chemicals. Assistant manager Bev was fantastic. She moved us to two lovely villa rooms with a private pool, butler Neil, and a floating breakfast. It was superb, but we only had 12 hours, including sleeping, to enjoy it. Those villas felt more like 5 star, though the towels were still gray and old. Overall we were extremely disappointed by the continual debacle and wished we'd stayed elsewhere.

The resort's wonderful people made our family trip such a joyful, unique experience. Thanks to the whole team for making our stay superb, especially Darel for being such a great host and Jenzel for sharing his love of food. This beautiful paradise wouldn't have felt the same without them.
