Maxims Hotel

The hotel's built around the malls, so anything you need is just a reach away, which made the experience much better. Staff were friendly and polite. The rooms feel cozy, with comfortable beds, plenty of bathroom space and generous amenities. It really feels like a home away from home. I'm definitely going back.

The slow Wi-Fi was the only downside for me, though it wasn't a big issue since we had mobile data. I loved how cozy the room was. There's a pleasant scent as you enter, and even stepping onto the floor felt stress-free. The washroom is spacious, with the shower separate from the toilet. There are connected hotels, Newport mall and cinema, and plenty of restaurants and shops. Security around the ballet area looked good. Five stars, and I'd recommend it to everyone.

For the price, this isn't a bad choice, and it may be worth asking whether they can discount the room you're considering. The service hasn't been as good as at other hotels, though. Payment for each extra day can be a hassle, even if you've already stayed over a week. Once, I called to say I'd return in the afternoon to pay for that day's extension, but they kept pressing me to settle it right away while I was running terribly late for an urgent appointment. I would have understood that if I hadn't already been there for over 5 days straight. You'd think they'd show a little courtesy.

I won't be back. They offered me a membership, saying it was the 1st 7*hotel in the Phil and that only high rollers stayed there. But the lobby had a low ceiling and an uncomfortable feel, and didn't look the part. I'd take a boutique hotel over it. The rates they showed non-members were insane. It felt like a rip off, though I still enjoyed what there was to enjoy.
