The only real upside was having plenty of restaurants nearby. The AVEARY was decent. I was staying in a tiny condo with a balcony, a small bedroom, a futon, table, large TV, little kitchen, and bathroom with a washing machine. A small cockroach crawled around, and the futon and large beanbag chair were stained and dirty. I didn't want the hassle of finding somewhere else, so I stayed. Getting there was frustrating. A doorman opened the door, but the front desk man ignored me for several minutes. My 3:00 pm check-in came and went because the room wasn't ready, and I waited in the lobby for about two hours. I also asked Jayson, the doorman, about the area and he acted like he hadn't heard me. That felt really unpleasant.

I had a good stay. The room was pleasant and easy to locate, and both the reception staff and the person looking after my unit were kind and accommodating. It was also handy having a mall and convenience store nearby.

The security guards were superb, and you can find good stay deals since several unit owners rent their places through Airbnb or even Facebook pages. There are the usual Manila condo amenities too, like a pool and gym, with restaurants and convenience stores close by. It's a handy spot for Mall of Asia and the hotel casinos around Pasay. It works just as well for a staycation.

They cancelled at the last minute, even though I'd booked the place and sent the requested IDs a month ahead. My wife and kids were left stranded at the airport. When I called the hotel's listed number, a woman in the States said she was the owner, though I doubt that, and told me nothing could be done because “the office was closed!” The place isn't open 24 hours, and the customer service was very poor. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
