Bellevue Cottages

For 1500 pesos in 2024, I got a decent chalet-style room with a sea view, balcony, air conditioning, hot water, and a fridge. It’s a five-minute walk from downtown Sabang and three minutes from the beachfront, but it’s all uphill, so be ready for the climb.

The view didn’t make up for the hotel’s condition, and I ended up searching for somewhere else in the middle of the night. Agoda and Google had positive reviews, so I booked based on those, but I was very disappointed. The pool was green, and I wouldn’t want to swim in it. The walk is as other reviews describe: a narrow, unlit alley with a hike, and I definitely wouldn’t bring luggage. The hotel isn’t gated and is isolated from the other beachfront places, which felt dangerous to me. Since I was the only Bellevue guest that night, the receptionist went home. When the hosts showed me the room, they said dogs usually sleep there, which I didn’t need to know. It smelled of mothballs, there was hair on the bed, and I found insects. The power also went out around 7pm. I alerted staff, and they fixed it in 30 minutes. The port ride was quoted at 250peso, but cost 300peso when I arrived. Another guy carried my bag on the five-minute walk and hounded me for payment, bringing the total to 400 peso. There are better and more convenient hotels in the area.

Chris, the manager, Kuya Allan, and the rest of the staff were lovely hosts. They’re doing their best for guests despite the place having been affected by the Pandemic. It’s in a quieter part of Sabang, and though you have to walk a bit and climb steps, the bay view and peaceful surroundings make it worthwhile. I had a good time and will surely go back.

The cottage was comfortable and had a nice view, and both the staff and owners were friendly. We got free coffee and juice, and the food was cheaper. There are a lot of stairs, but we didn’t mind, and there was plenty happening around at night. I’d recommend this place.
