There’s plenty of room to move around, and guests can cook in the kitchen. I liked the native trees on the property, the many hammocks, and all the interesting things inside. The showers have hot and cold water, and the market is about 1 km away or less. It’s a quiet, creative place, and Kuya Buddy was welcoming and really helpful. Read the directions before you come, or you may end up having to speak with the uniformed person at the military base 😅

The online photos don’t really show how good this place looks. The owner built the whole thing, and there are animals everywhere. A kitten jumped onto my lap and let me carry her around, and there’s also a lovely dog, hens, and roosters. You can get up to 6 bedrooms if you’re coming with family, for just under £15 a night. There’s no air con, but there are fans and mosquito nets, plus a shared bathroom. Mate, I’m gobsmacked!

Everything else is very nice, but this was the noisiest place I’ve ever slept. After 6:30 AM, getting any sleep was impossible.

Jonathan was super helpful, and the dogs and cats around the place were friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were consistently very clean. The whole hostel feels like art, from the walls and floors to the lamps. It’s outside central Puerto Princesa, though still within walking distance of several good local food spots. The beach is walkable too, and Bamboo Nest Beachfront has another location there. Jonathan can arrange tours, and I recommend the whale shark tour!

We felt at home as soon as we arrived. Bamboo Nest is cozy and beautiful, in an authentic neighborhood, with a big area full of places to relax. There are two lovely, spacious kitchens and lots of friendly cats, dogs, and people around. I’d definitely suggest staying a few days or nights. :)
