Citadel Bed and Breakfast

We didn't feel welcome, and the service we got wasn't right. The price seemed quite good for what was included, but staff treated other guests a bit more nicely from what I saw. I wouldn't recommend staying here. The location wasn't great either, and felt a bit like the middle of nowhere. We also felt unwelcome at the Robinson mall. When we arrived in the evening, we asked whether dinner was available, since they provide it. At 19.15, staff told us it was too late. One person suggested we go to the big mall for “the food we want,” which she called junk food, and said, “that is the food for you”. When I said that wasn't the kind of food we were looking for, she replied, “but the food here is not for you”. The next morning, we found the shower water swung between very hot and very cold, and reported it to reception. We were told someone would come that day, but nobody did. The following day we mentioned it again to someone I think was the boss. She checked it and said the heater would be replaced. It was, but they also changed the shower head for a very old one with barely any water coming through. There was a small kitchen in our room, but it only had four drinking glasses. When I asked reception for plates and cutlery, she said, “okay but you will have to pay for it”. I think that's ridiculous when there's a kitchen in the room. There were also rules everywhere, in the room, by the pool, and in the kitchen. When we checked out, we were charged for four bottles of water, even though we'd taken two the day before and had been told we could pay the next day. I had said that was fine.

It's easy to reach by tricycle or motorbike if you're commuting, and the owner is really friendly. For the price, the place is great. I'd rate it 4.8/5, taking off a little for the slight overpricing, though I understand that's part of staying at a hotel. Buying things outside would be better. I do recommend it, and you can contact them directly for a cheaper rate than booking through Agoda.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped with our laundry and even arranged a 5 a.m. ride to the airport, which we really appreciated. The rooms were very clean and smelled lovely, so we felt comfortable right away. It's a cozy, affordable option that gives good value without losing comfort or service. Highly recommend it.
