One Manalo Place

The rooms were clean when I stayed in Dec 2022, and the front desk staff were excellent. I suspect the older negative reviews may reflect how things were before improvements. The AC could be a bit loud, and nearby businesses made some noise, though neither bothered my partner or me. I especially liked the gym, with a solid selection of weights and machines for a decent workout. Great stay for the price.

The entrance, lobby, and pool area look nice, and the gym is okay. But the pool water was murky, so we didn't enjoy swimming. A bedside table wasn't working, and turning on the other fluorescent lights brought about 20 flying ants into the room. Those lights should be removed. We emailed ahead to book a tour and never got a reply. We did get a free shuttle back to the airport.

I stayed at One Manolo Place during December 2023, and the service was frustrating from check-in onward. Staff were slow and not helpful, and that continued through the stay, which really affected my trip. I also booked a day trip through the hotel, but bad weather meant it was cancelled. They told me I'd get a refund, yet more than 8 weeks later I still hadn't received the money. That felt like a lack of accountability and made an already poor experience more frustrating. Based on what happened to me, I strongly advise against staying at One Manolo Place or booking activities through them. The indifferent service and promise that wasn't fulfilled spoiled what could have been an enjoyable stay.

We only stayed one night before our flight, and it was okay for that short stop. I wouldn't recommend a longer visit. For three weeks we'd stayed in the Philippines in everything from very basic cottages to nice hotels, and this was the only place that hadn't been properly cleaned. The pool water looked milky, possibly from a pH problem, and the gym and room were dirty too. The room was full of mosquitoes when we arrived. Reception had almost no insect spray left and just showed us the can, so we had to check three stores before finding some ourselves. The next morning we spotted spray on the cleaning team's cart. I pulled the duvet from its cover because it was too warm to sleep under, and found brown stains and hair all over it. I reported it at the front desk in the morning; they apologized and passed it to housekeeping. Still, this shouldn't happen in a relatively new, nicely designed place. Disgusting.
