Camp Backpackers was such a welcoming place. I felt comfortable throughout my stay as a solo traveler. The host was really accommodating, and I’d stay here again if I come back. It’s right by the bus stop, the location is great, and it was the cheapest place to stay in Port Barton.

The noise made it impossible to relax or sleep. There’s a dive centre beside the campsite that fills tanks until 11:30pm, then starts again at 5:30am. Its compressor runs constantly, making this the noisiest accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. Their “Clean, Comfortable and Affordable” slogan felt like the opposite of our experience. During our 4 nights, the toilet bins were never changed, the toilets weren’t cleaned, and every time we opened the door to use them, there were hundreds of flies. The accommodation is a tent with a small mattress on concrete, in what feels like a military area, with no normal beds. After 8am, it was impossible to stay inside because it got so hot that I felt I had to leave before getting heatstroke. It was also the most expensive “backpacker hostel” in the area. For what we paid, in my opinion it could easily be the worst accommodation in South East Asia. Think carefully before booking here.

Rea and her amazingly friendly family run this fun, affordable hostel with a military theme, right beside the bus terminal. They helped me arrange an island tour, get a motorbike, and find a van to Puerto Princesa. There’s free water and inexpensive local food at their canteen. The tents get hot during the day and the Wi-Fi is slow, but those are small issues when you should be out exploring Port Barton.

The place is relaxing and quiet at night, with a mountain view to enjoy when you get back to your tent. Camp Backpackers is clean and nice, just a minute from the beach, shops, bars, and the terminal. The staff are friendly and accommodating, especially Ate Rhea, who’s such a nice lady to talk to. If you’re considering the price, I highly recommend staying here. I’ll definitely come back to Port Barton and stay here again. 🥂

Reya is a gem, such a sweet woman running the place, and I’ll definitely come back. The private tent is cheap, spacious, and has two queen beds, so it’s perfect for 2 people. It gets hot during the day, but you’re traveling, so get out and do what you came to do!
