I was a student researcher visiting Sablayan for fieldwork, and Casa Ison made the trip feel manageable, especially since it was my first time somewhere so far from home. It was affordable and comfortable, and the keycard entry also made the place feel secure. My room was better than I expected for the price. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of light, and the big table and chair were useful for joining my online classes. The AC worked well, and I liked having a bedside lamp and a power outlet close by. The hot shower came in handy when I was getting ready early for fieldwork. I got there around midnight, much later than planned, instead of my 2:00 PM check-in time. The 24-hour reception made arriving straightforward and safe. Staff were helpful, including lending me an electric kettle when I needed one. The shared spaces were nice too. There’s a large dining area in the lobby that guests can use, plus an in-house café. Coffee is only served during certain hours. It’s also close to a 7-Eleven and a rooftop café and restaurant with nice views of the municipality. One drawback was the no-outside-food rule. The hotel menu is relatively expensive, which can be hard if you’re on a student budget. Still, I’m grateful to Casa Ison for a welcoming, comfortable, and safe stay.

Those hotel rules would have been a deal breaker if I'd known before booking: no alcohol and no guests after 17:00. They're unusual for a place frequented by adults, so they should be made clear when people book. By the time I found out it was too late to cancel, so I ignored them. The room itself was clean and quiet, even the AC, though it was very small at 10sqm. The location in the town centre was good.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt secure during my 20-hour business stay in a single-occupancy room. For the price, there was good value: free sealed bottled water, toiletries, stable free Wi-Fi, good AC, and working shower and bidet with a hot water heater. The location was convenient for highways, convenience stores, and restaurants. The room was cramped but still possible to move around in, and had no window or outside view. I found that uncomfortable, and a window might also have served as an emergency exit. There was no elevator, which is a real inconvenience for disabled or older guests and anyone with heavy bags. The television didn't work, and there was no cable TV either, so entertainment options were limited.

I lived with local friends instead of staying at the hotel, but I came by almost daily to use the wifi while working remotely. The reception girls were so welcoming and friendly. Salamat Po! Their different flavoured coffees were really tasty too. I highly recommend the hotel.

The bed was really comfortable, and my room had a smart TV with different streaming platforms. The staff were friendly, and they can make food or coffee orders too. Casa Ison Hotel is in central Sablayan, right by a 7-Eleven. For the price, the conditions were excellent. I'd definitely stay there again if I come back to Sablayan.
