Carabao and the other islands in the Romblon region have had a hard time because of the pandemic. Now that it’s over, it seems local authorities may be restricting tourists from Boracay, the world’s best-known island, even though it’s only a stone’s throw from Carabao and the neighboring islands. There should be enough tourists, money, and people for everyone, and transport between places is an industry in itself. We can only guess why it’s like this, and I’m sorry if I’m wrong. Because of this, the top-notch hotel may be running at only 10-20% capacity. It must be hard to maintain such a big, nice place without customers, but they’re doing a really good job. The lobby, pool, and restaurant were clean, the staff were super nice and helpful, and the food was good. They don’t have everything you’d expect from a resort of this size, but what they do have is good. Our room was nice, with a very big bathroom, Wi-Fi, TV, and hot water. We even had breakfast alone in the resort today. Thanks to the staff for helping us as much as they could. I recommend it as the best place to stay on this small island. Other resorts and businesses have similar problems. Hopefully the local government and tourism department can sort this out. A little tip: you might want to try walking in before booking. That worked quite well for us. I hope the resort can get back to the glory it may have had before the pandemic.

The staff went out of their way to make our stay lovely. After a night of rain, they left umbrellas outside our room. When our hired motorbike got a flat at 8:30 at night, they sent someone to rescue us and retrieve it so we could use it the next morning. Exceptional service. It’s a very remote hotel, and the restaurant doesn’t really operate normally. You can order meals, but need to place your order by 6 pm.

The staff were pleasant and polite, but the hotel itself felt neglected and run down, and the online photos were misleading. We saw two monkeys tied to a tree in the reception area, which made us uncomfortable. They also didn’t have some basic things we asked for, including milk and wine. With that and the condition of the place, we spent most of our time at another hotel down the road. The stay was underwhelming, didn’t meet expectations, and we wouldn’t choose it again.

The staff were super helpful and very nice. It’s my 11th time in the Philippines, and I’ve never had any issues with their hospitality. The food was amazing, and the chef is very skilled, which matters since there aren’t many other places to eat. We had to leave early for medical reasons, which was a shame. The villa is beautiful, quiet, spacious, and super clean. The bathroom is even bigger than my room back home in London. The location and food made it an amazing place to stay. Getting to the beach means going up and down 110 stairs. It could use some tidying, and walking barefoot can be tricky, but there’s so much to see once you’re in the water. Bring a waterproof camera if you have one.

The villa views and location were spectacular, and the property was well maintained. Everyone was pleasant and attentive to our needs and questions, and the staff made our vacation especially memorable. Special thanks to Ciarra, Merjun & Bebit. We’ll be back every year to this hidden piece of paradise.
