La Luz Beach Resort

La Luz Beach Resort has a calm, rustic feel on the cream-colored shore of Tayabas Bay in Batangas. The bamboo details, native-style buildings, open pavilions, and sea views are a big part of its charm. There’s an infinity pool and beachfront, plus buffet meals, kayaking, snorkeling, bonfires, and guided hikes are included. The staff are friendly, and the natural setting helps offset some shortcomings. Some guests mention dated rooms, slow service, and upkeep problems such as weak water pressure or old showers. It may not feel especially luxurious.

The beach is rocky, but they kept it clean the whole time, and there are plenty of activities and staff around to help guests. I liked the privacy of the resort and the cabanas, which give it a relaxed, classy feel. Restaurant service was good, though the food felt expensive for the portion sizes. The taste was okay, with a few dishes that could be better. The lofts could use a refresh too, especially repairs or replacements for the door knobs. Getting there from Manila took 3 1/2 to 4 hours by car, depending on traffic.

The rooms and facilities were okay, but the service needs a lot of work. We arrived a little late and ate at the restaurant, where nobody explained how many people each dish could serve, so the portions were smaller than we expected. At breakfast the next morning, they’d run out of cups for the self-service coffee. It took 30 minutes to get our inflatable ready for water activities. Then at checkout, we found that our dinner food had been charged twice.

We came after receiving an email from you confirming that walk-ins were accepted. Once we arrived and had everything sorted out, we were told that reservations were required after all. You did issue a refund, but that didn’t make up for the wasted time and effort caused by the incorrect information. We were also given no help or even basic suggestions for somewhere else to stay, despite the mix-up being on your end. It was frustrating and disappointing, and made the poor coordination and customer handling clear.
