We found the staff kind and welcoming throughout our stay, and Ms. Janet deserves a special mention. My ₱500 check-in deposit was separate from the room charge, and they said they’d send it back through GCash. They did, which I really appreciated. We arrived in Laiya without a plan, hoping to find an affordable resort and ready to bargain. The cheapest place we came across wanted ₱4,000 for 22 hours. Then we noticed RedDoorz across the street. The receptionist was sweeping the backyard when we walked in, but she took the time to explain everything and help us. It was much cheaper, clean, and cozy. It felt more like home than a typical apartelle. There were extra linens in the room: three towels, three thick blankets, and four to six pillows. The hotel is affiliated with Kabayan Beach Resort in San Juan, Laiya, just across the road, and having an Alfamart and grocery store downstairs was handy. They also have family rooms for people traveling with kids. The staff showed us one, and I’m looking forward to coming back this summer with my children.
At ₱2900 a night, this wasn't worth it. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and traffic outside was noisy. We were also locked inside the building at midnight and had to wake the staff to open the glass door. That feels like a fire hazard and is ridiculous.
The staff made this stay for us. They were warm and welcoming, and helped with things beyond their usual service, including utensils, a table, and a sampayan. They even offered their dryer for our wet clothes after swimming. The room surprised us: although the booking app said it was for two, the king bed could fit three, and there was a pull-out bed too. I think four people could sleep there without luggage. We stayed two nights and it was one of my best hotel experiences. It’s not right on the beach, but it’s about a five-minute walk away. There’s a convenience store downstairs, an Alfamart in the next slot, and restaurants nearby. Booking here also gives you free access to Kabayan Beach Resort. I’d definitely recommend the place.
We got free passes to Kabayan Resort, which saved us quite a bit. We’d booked Palm Beach Resort for just one day, so on the days we weren’t sure where to go, we headed to Kabayan instead. Laiya Vivo Hotel is in a handy spot near some nice resorts. The rooms are good and budget friendly, and the receptionist was super friendly and ready to help anytime. We had a great stay.
There were plenty of convenience stores around, and the staff were kind and polite. CCTV cameras cover the property, and the bathroom was very clean. Towels were provided, and the shower had a heater, though the water pressure was weak. We had a nice stay overall, but there were lots of ants in the room, so be sure to dispose of food properly.
