Skytel Palawan

I spent two nights here with my family, and the room worked for our needs. It was spacious, with a queen bed and a double bed, and came with slippers. The room was relatively clean, though the bathroom divider had a lot of limescale. The half divider by the shower kept water from splashing onto the toilet. Robinson's Mall wasn’t far, and the airport was nearby. The biggest issue was the WiFi. It was consistently weak and dropped often, so I kept switching to other rooms' networks. The pool looked cloudy and greener than usual, so I suspected it might not be regularly maintained or get adequate care. It could have been algae, too little chlorine, not enough scrubbing, unbalanced pH, poor filtration, or some combination. I wouldn’t recommend swimming in it. Our AC couldn’t cool the room properly even set to 16 degrees. It felt more like 27. The front door wouldn’t close right without the deadbolt in place, and the balcony door had no lock. They also don’t provide toilet paper. We didn’t eat at the hotel. The menu is more expensive than eating outside, where there’s a cheaper inasal place within walking distance. It was satisfactory for what my family needed, but there’s room to improve.

The rate was very reasonable, especially since we booked early, and being near the airport and highway made travel easy. We stayed three nights in two rooms as a family, checking in late and leaving early. There were signs of neglect, though. Maintenance could be better, and we noticed the pool wasn’t cleaned regularly during our stay. A bit disappointing, but for the affordable price, the stay was satisfactory.

Our room was clean, but it was missing basic things like cups, toilet paper, and plugs. There were only four outlets in total, one in the bathroom, two behind the TV, and one between the beds. That was stressful for four people sharing the room. There was no steady hot water for showers. We asked a staff member to check it, and it worked for a few minutes, then stopped again. With four of us, having to call staff every time someone needed a shower was impossible. The internet was the worst part. We were on the second floor and the connection was awful. I do online work and was off work the whole time we were there. Awful experience.

The employees were friendly and very helpful, and the hotel offered good value for the price. Ordering something to the room was a hassle, though, since we had to call several times. It’s a little far from the center, and finding a taxi in the rain was very difficult. Taxi prices were very high.
