Meaco Hotel - Solano

For the price, it's excellent value. This renovated old hotel is right in the middle of town, with good wifi and spacious rooms. Check-in meant writing the same information twice, there was a slight musty smell, and they charge corkage for any outside food or drinks you consume. Hot water costs 10php per cup.

The bathroom was fairly spacious and the towels were very clean, but the rag was filthy and hadn't been replaced for new guests. The room itself was good, though I didn't like the atmosphere and there were no lampshades. Opening the window meant looking straight at another room's window. It felt awkward, and I wanted natural sunlight, but I left the drapes closed in case someone could see me. They'll deliver breakfast to the room, but it isn't free. There was wifi, cable TV, dental kits, an elevator, a key card, and a bidet. No water dispenser, though, so you have to buy drinking water.

After typhoon "Pepito", our area still had no power, so we stayed there. The room was clean and had basic toiletries, and the staff were friendly. The rate was affordable too: 1,300 for 24 hours in a room that fits a family of 3. The wifi was a little weak, though we went there because I needed it for work, and I had to ask them to reset it twice, which was disappointing. We had to go out to buy food since their menu only had breakfast and snacks, IIRC.

The towels and bed linens were unhygienic, and the towels smelled bad. The room smelled like a warehouse and insecticide. Staff were rude, and the customer service was the worst experience. After checkout they told us to wait in the lounge or lobby for a room check, which felt offensive after we'd settled all hotel fees and orders. The toiletries weren't worth the 1400 paid for 24 hours. Our food order was uncovered, and the internet didn't work. If zero were an option, I'd give zero. Poor service.
