Parkway Hotel

We picked Parkway Hotel for our final night in the area so we could get to the airport easily for an early flight. Check-in was fast, and the front desk staff were polite. The room was simple but clean, with working air conditioning and hot water. There were places to eat within walking distance. We didn't spend time checking out the hotel's facilities since we were only there overnight. It did what we needed for a brief stop before departure, and we had no major problems.

The room had a bad smell coming from the toilet sink, the TV wouldn't work, and the Wi-Fi was awful. The front desk staff and the orders in the restaurant were frowning. Very bad experience. I wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed five days. The bed was on the small side but comfortable, and the room was fair for the price, with a kettle, TV, and basic toiletries. They don't clean the room every day, and the AC was a little noisy. Getting the shower water to a comfortable temperature was difficult, though the flush, bidet, and faucets worked. The food was great, although it wasn't warm, and the service was nice. Breakfast came with the room and was okay, but could be better, especially the coffee. The function rooms weren't very clean, and the restaurant only opens at 7am, which is inconvenient for early risers. There's a grocery and a Chinese restaurant next door, plus a few other places to eat nearby. I'm not sure about public transportation.

We checked in around midnight because it felt too dangerous to keep driving on a poorly lit highway. The hotel was quite a drive from the ferry terminal, but it seemed to be the closest option. Our room was beside one full of screaming kids. Nothing about the place was worth bragging about, though nothing was especially bad either. The rate included what they called breakfast: a cup of 3 in 1 coffee, a cold pre-cooked over easy egg, a tiny paper-thin slice of cold cut they called sausage, and cold white rice. We didn't touch any of it. 😡
