Philippine Gateway Hotel

Our room was clean and roomy enough for four, although it was meant for two. It had a fridge and safety vault, and there was free water to refill on the second floor. The free buffet breakfast, pool access, Wi-Fi, and airport transfer were part of our stay. We only asked the driver to drop us at City Mall, and he gladly did. We also appreciated the promos and discounts, including an extension for our one-day stay even though it fell outside the promo period. The staff were friendly and hospitable, but the turnover system and record-keeping need work. They could also be clearer about how discounts vary between cash and bank transfer payments. The room's aircon was very old and noisy, though it cooled the room well. The Wi-Fi signal was weak. I noticed cobwebs on the lounge ceiling, water stains and dust on glass windows and walls, and uncovered unused items that made the hotel feel less maintained. Philippine Gateway Hotel is one of the biggest hotels in Surigao and feels like a frontrunner in the city's hotel industry. It has the size, amenities, and staff to be a five-star choice. Better cleanliness, clearer discount information, and updated facilities could help it stand out as one of the city's best.

The place fell far short of what I expected. The TV didn't work properly, the toilet sink smelled bad, and the internet connection was awful. Some reception staff were frowning, especially at night. There also needs to be a free outlet in the garage for hotel guests, not one they have to pay to use. If you want a convenient and comfortable vacation or business stay, I wouldn't stay here. It was a disappointing experience, and the hotel needs to find ways to improve. Not recommendable.

The staff were great, and the building and rooms looked lovely. The pool was nice too. The food, though, was horrible and very poor quality. They poured a huge amount of gravy over everything, and the steak was the worst I've ever been served in any country.

The location was excellent, and I liked cooling off in the pool. The restaurant food was good, and the included breakfast was awesome, with lots of choices and eggs made any style you like. Hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay at Gateway Hotel Surigao City. 🙂
