Bohol Sunset Villa

A nice spot for family time or a barkada outing. The boardwalk is currently unavailable because of the typhoon, but we still liked the place.

The mangrove area and the boardwalk leading to the beach are lovely, but the stay itself was a hassle. Booking messages took ages to get a response, and our Premier room felt very basic, with dated finishes, a broken shower handle, and poor drainage that left water pooled on the floor. The Wi-Fi barely worked and kept disconnecting, so we had to get another voucher. That was frustrating over three nights. The staff also seemed poorly informed: we were told to check out on our second day. They gave us a small discount, but then charged an extra hour when we checked out at noon. There's a lot to improve.

I've used the pool at Sunset Villa twice, paying 150 pesos per person. It's quiet, a little secluded, and the pool is kept in good shape. I haven't seen the rooms, so I can't comment on them. The price feels high to me, though it's the cheapest I've found in Bohol. The resort across the street from my house charges 300 pesos per person, so Sunset Villa is worth the drive when I want a swim.

The rooms were quite basic, and we weren't given Wi-Fi. The king bed was actually two double beds pushed together, leaving a gap under the sheets.
