Soledad Suites

The location made getting around easy, with cafes, the mall, a hospital and Starbucks close by. We stayed 10 nights in a Superior Suite, and the friendly, accommodating staff helped make the long stay comfortable. The room had effective AC, good shower pressure, basic amenities and a decent breakfast. Housekeeping kept it clean and came by almost every day, which stood out in an older hotel. The TV only had cable, and the WiFi was weak in the room. Some websites also seemed blocked, which made working online difficult for me as a freelancer. Nearby cafes with free WiFi helped. It’s a comfortable, practical place in Tagbilaran if you want a clean stay without spending too much. It isn’t flashy, but the staff take good care of guests.

Getting around Tagbilaran city proper was easy from here, with malls within walking distance and public transport readily available. The staff and crew were warm and hospitable, even helping us up to our standard room for two. Breakfast for the next day was included. Our stay was simple and relaxing. The room was cozy, with hot and cold shower, cool AC, TV and excellent fast WiFi. Housekeeping cleaned as usual, and the front desk was only a call away. The lobby, lounge and restaurant were tidy and well kept, and there wasn’t outside noise to distract us. There’s 24/7 CCTV too. There can occasionally be a power blackout, so stay calm, and expect the water pressure may be affected.

The room was clean and roomy, breakfast was a fine start to the day, and the staff were generally helpful. I also appreciated being allowed to check in early after a typhoon cancelled my ferry. I stayed twice, for four nights total, but a couple of things really brought the experience down. Christmas music played on repeat in the restaurant, so I only ate there for breakfast. The hotel was quiet while I was there, and staff often had their phones blaring loudly. On my last morning the noise was so bad I had to finish breakfast in my room. I pointed out the staff members making the racket, but they carried on. Keep doing that and you’ll have even fewer customers.

The food was good and reasonably priced, and I can recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Tagbilaran. My only complaint is that restaurant staff stay out of sight behind the counter, so sometimes it’s difficult to place an order.
