The staff were nice and the service was okay, and the rooms were clean, but there were too many problems. WiFi kept disconnecting on my phone, and it did the same on my iPad, so it wasn’t just my device. They were fixing the water pump on our checkout morning, and the sink water was brown, so we couldn’t use it. They hadn’t warned us during our two-day stay, and they could have done the work in the afternoon. Imagine checking out without a shower 🥲. There’s no microwave, just a fridge and kettle, so don’t bring leftovers. Parking is limited and you may have to leave the car by the road. The cafe was okay and the food was really good, but the coffee was inconsistent. The matcha tasted like milk even after mixing, and the cafe latte tasted vapid.

The location is excellent, within walking distance of everything in the city center, and the place was very tidy and clean. The bed was comfortable and breakfast came as one high-quality plate, though vegetables were scarce and salad cost extra. Light came through the curtains, which weren’t fully blackout. Reception told me every room was like that, so I couldn’t switch. I’m already a light sleeper, and the 6:00 sunlight was a dealbreaker. I’d booked four nights in advance. The old-style window AC was noisy, so I preferred sleeping with the window open. The sink and shower faucets struggled to keep the water warm, swinging between too cold and too hot.

A convenient spot for taking a boat cruise from Bohol. The room was comfortable, with a good-quality bed and bathroom, and it was quiet.

The WiFi and air conditioning both worked poorly during our visit, leaving us uncomfortable and disconnected. Then, ten minutes before checkout, they called to remind us to leave by noon. We found that unnecessary. The bigger issue was being charged 5,000 pesos for smoking on the balcony, not inside the room. Staff gave no evidence or explanation for how they arrived at that amount. The lack of transparency felt frustrating and unprofessional. With the poor service and basic amenities not working properly, I wouldn’t recommend staying here if fairness and professionalism matter to you.

The room was small, with only a clothes rack and no closet, but it was clean and comfortable, and a welcome break from the midday heat. We chose the hotel based on its reviews and found them accurate. Some relatives even preferred it to the place we’d been considering because of that other hotel’s reputation. On our trip, sikwate became a way to judge the hotels. This one served the second best sikwate of the vacation, after only a pricier, more exclusive Panglao resort. The Filipino breakfast was delicious too. I’d definitely stay here again.
