City Park Hotel Manila

I booked it for three nights because the rooftop bar in the Google Maps photos looked appealing. When I arrived, there was no rooftop bar at all. That feels misleading, like false advertising. The room was neglected and well below an acceptable standard, with no toothbrush, drinking water, or slippers. The environment overall was extremely poor. In the early morning, staff talked loudly and made so much noise that they ignored guests’ need for rest. It was unbearable. This is by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I left early without even asking for a refund, just to get out of there. I strongly don’t recommend it to anyone.

The front desk staff were probably the only good part, since he was extremely helpful. The room, though, was filthy, with cockroaches everywhere and what looked like mold all over the bathroom. The heavily advertised jacuzzi didn’t work. When we turned on the shower, water sprayed in several directions from the pipe because of all the leaks. In the middle of the night, some decorative cladding above the bed came loose and hit me on the head. Luckily, we were only there for one night.

The mattress was decent and the room size was good for the price. The bathroom door setup is awkward: it should slide into the wall, because you’re stuck either closing it or standing away from the sink. That’s a minor hassle, though. The Wi-Fi didn’t work the entire time, even after we called the front desk. I use Wi-Fi a lot, so having it work matters to me. If you don’t care about Wi-Fi at all, then it was mostly fine otherwise.

The bed and pillows were so hard that I couldn’t sleep well, and even most beds at home are comfier than their deluxe room. It felt more like a motel than a hotel. There were little bugs all over the room, and the dusty bed frame didn’t help. The shower and bathtub were moldy, and there weren’t basic toiletries like soap or shampoo. They also charge Php 50 for bike parking, which seems unnecessary.
