Our included buffet breakfast was a great start to the morning, with plenty of fresh, tasty options. Tibet Resort was clean and well kept, with the facilities thoughtfully arranged. The staff were respectful, attentive, and caring, which made us feel comfortable throughout. We stayed at Tibet Resort in Kachura, across from the famous Shangri-La Resort. The mountain and water views were breathtaking, and the calm surroundings left us feeling refreshed. Both the setting and the service made this a stay we’ll remember.

The scenery is the main reason to come here. Lower Kachura Lake looks stunning, and paying extra for a lake view on the 3rd floor did give us a worthwhile view. We stayed three days at Tibet Hotel in Shangrila, Skardu, but the rates are close to what high-end hotels like PC charge, while the quality, service, and facilities don’t measure up. It felt like the view was what we were paying for. Options for civilians around Kachura are quite limited. Most nearby places are under army custody (FWO, Navy, GB Scouts), leaving Shangrila and Tibet Hotel available. Shangrila is very expensive, which may help explain Tibet’s pricing and service level. Our room and washroom were spacious, though the furniture seemed old and dated, and the sofas didn’t feel premium. There was no kettle, which was disappointing at that price. The lift wasn’t working, so getting to our 3rd-floor room was inconvenient. If scenery is your priority, this place delivers. For comfort and value for money, though, it may not be the best option.

The food was another letdown. It was extremely oily, and breakfast was worse, with only 1-2 dishes available and those were undercooked. The lights also kept going out, almost 200 times in 20 hours, with each outage lasting several minutes. There was no emergency lighting or proper backup system. I paid around 120k for the penthouse. It looked impressive in the pictures, but the stay was extremely poor and full of serious issues. The door lock security was inadequate: the key code was simply “123456,” so literally anyone could enter, which was unacceptable for guest safety and privacy. The jacuzzi was in terrible condition. Its lights didn’t work, several tiles were loose and shaking, and there were mosquitoes in the water. It had to be filled by hand through a pipe from outside, and we had to call reception each time. Bathroom blinds didn’t work, and the glass could be seen through from outside, creating a major privacy concern. Exposed wires coming out of the walls looked unsafe and poorly maintained. I travel frequently around the world and rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of my most disappointing hotel stays. The property may look luxurious in photos, but the experience fell far below expectations and wasn’t worth the price.

I had a great stay at Tibet Hotel Skardu. The room was comfortable and clean, with a spectacular view of Shangrilla lake. Staff were friendly, room service was quick and efficient, and the food was tasty. I’d highly recommend it.

The bonfire at night made the stay more fun, and the food was tasty. My room looked out over the lake, and the place was in a great spot. The room and bathroom were clean, with heating and hot running water around the clock. It was a cozy stay, though the lifts weren't working, which was the one unpleasant part.
