Hotel Bardo

The lodge meals were awful. Every day it was the same cheap, overcooked pasta, stale bread from the day before, and cake that tasted heavily processed. There was pale cucumber with each meal, but no fruit or fresh salad all week. The coffee machine was broken, so the black coffee came out lukewarm, and the milk jugs sat on the table at room temperature for a couple of hours. I was staying in a lodge rather than the main building. It was clean, though basic. The outdoor pool was cool, and the outdoor sauna and hot tub weren't running.

The spa, breakfast, and service were all great, and the place was well maintained. For the price, though, the rooms could have been better, especially the beds and amenities.

We had half-board, and although breakfast and dinner didn't offer many choices, the food was delicious. You can order à la carte, too. The staff were friendly overall, though a few times I thought the waiters could have been a little happier and more helpful. Our standard room on the second floor was neat and clean, but quite small. Its skylight windows looked out toward the playground and outdoor pool. The hotel sits on a hill in the small historic town of Bardo, with picturesque views and historic buildings as you go up. There was a large indoor pool for a good swim, plus an indoor whirlpool, sauna, gym, and a decent-sized kids' room on the first floor.

The management team supported us throughout, and the waiters provided top-notch service. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the spaces for our wedding party and the next day's BBQ were just right. We stayed for a few days and enjoyed the great spa area as well. It was the perfect wedding party for us, and we couldn't have asked for more. We'll definitely return to enjoy the hotel and explore the beautiful surroundings. I'd strongly recommend it for a party or function, or simply a nice stay surrounded by nature.
