Karczma Stary Spichlerz

We'd stayed away for ages, but photos of the new menu tempted us back. The tartar, sandacz, and duck were delicious, nicely balanced, and looked great. The price and wait felt in line with the food. We’ve since come three Sundays running, and it’s been tasty and interesting every time. We’ll be back :)

The rooms were really cozy and nice, and the food was decent. For the price, it’s definitely worth it. I did find the shower head old and a bit moldy, and some of the light switches didn’t work.

The historic building and sweet view were the only real positives for us. The apartment itself was nice and mostly tidy, but several details were pretty disgusting. We were so worn out from the drive, with a sleeping toddler, that we stayed instead of immediately finding somewhere else. We’d paid extra for a quiet, separate apartment with an in-room sauna, hoping to recover after four days of noisy car travel. On arrival we were told there was no sauna at this facility, and that it was at another one far away, if it existed there at all. They wouldn’t offer compensation or an alternative. Then we found out about a karaoke party in the tavern, which hadn’t been mentioned. A worker said without apology that it would go on until 2am. Our apartment was fortunately at the far end of the top floor, thanks to Dionis, but we could still feel the music vibrating through the walls. We’d booked for three in advance, yet I had to make the bed myself. The sheet I opened was covered in cat and human hair, and the replacement had holes in it. Breakfast in the tavern was tasty, though it was served in a dark corner where I could barely see what I’d put on my plate. When I sat outside, a kind woman brought us hot omelettes and sausages without us asking. The kitchen staff spoke only Polish, so there was no explanation.

There were bed bugs all over room nr2, and we couldn't sleep. In the morning, the receptionist looked stunned at the dead bugs covering the beds. Still, I got the impression this wasn't news to the hotel staff.
