The location was the main reason I chose this apartment, along with the low price. For value, it worked well. I’d give the location 10 out of 10: it’s in the courtyard of a beautiful church with an amber altar you can visit, and the World War II Museum, river, old city center, and main train station are each about a 10-minute walk away. You can get around easily from there. Getting in was stressful. The number Booking gave me didn’t answer on WhatsApp or Booking, so I had to call the owner’s regular phone. She gave me another WhatsApp number, but when I messaged to say I’d arrived and ask how to reach the apartment, there was no reply for a long time. I was already there and didn’t know what to do, so I panicked a bit and called her again. Only then did she send directions. If you have no reception or can’t make a call, that could be a real problem. It’s on the fourth floor, so bear that in mind with luggage or mobility issues. The apartment is very warm, though you can adjust the radiators yourself. It’s also clearly in poor shape and overdue for a makeover: some handles are broken, paint is peeling from the walls, and the towels are very worn. The blanket, pillows, and mattress could do with replacing too. You can hear neighbors singing and someone leaving for work at 6 a.m. and slamming the door. It’s a typical residential building where people are just going about their lives. There’s a hair dryer, but it’s old and portable, so I wouldn’t leave it on for long because it could overheat. Be careful in the shower too. There’s a curtain on one side, but water can splash onto the washing machine and electrical outlet on the other. The kitchen has cooking utensils, though I ate out and only used the glasses. The microwave and kettle worked fine. The fridge didn’t work. I complained to the owner, and she came to check it. I understand they were planning to replace it.
