This is a redeveloped industrial area where the brewery used to be. Now there are apartment blocks, a few restaurants, a small spa, some small businesses, and lots of apartments, mostly rented to tourists or wealthy students. I read guest reviews before booking. The new construction, convenient location, and two shopping centers across the street are positives. But it’s a lottery whether you get the place you thought you booked, since the advertised apartments don’t have consistent quality. The operator has plenty of day-to-day problems to deal with, and guests mention noise, water supply, and cleaning issues. The operator handles problems without much emotion; there doesn’t seem to be much care. Collecting payment and making money seem to matter. The cleaning staff look like poor, irritated wretches doing hard work. There’s no central reception, and I wonder why. In the end, it’s a gamble: you might be happy or disappointed, but a lot of money is gone either way.
The pigeons made it impossible to sleep in peace. They started getting extremely loud around 4 AM every morning, so this place isn’t suitable if you need quiet. The windows face a roof completely taken over by pigeons and covered in droppings. It smelled strongly sour and seemed unhygienic. We couldn’t leave the windows open because of the smell and germs, but with them shut the room became unbearably stuffy. We arrived to find the room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. We couldn’t shower or sleep properly, and there was no way to reach the property by phone or message to get it sorted. The next day we had to leave the room so it could finally be cleaned. They promised a refund, but after many calls and chats we still haven’t received any money.
The beds and sheets were dirty, and there was no service at all. They don’t answer calls, so there’s no point trying. Also, you need to clean the water trap under the sink. Honestly, the place wasn’t worth visiting.
A lovely oasis in a different part of the city, away from the Old Town, where I wouldn’t have stayed because there are far too many tourists. This is a perfect base for visiting Gdansk, Sopot, and Gdynia, and good value for the money.
Apt 5 was spacious, spotless, and warm even in the snow, with a sweet little balcony off the sitting area and everything we needed. Downstairs, reached by lift, there's a lovely bar, restaurant, and bakery. The bakery costs more, but its pastries, breads, cakes, desserts, and gourmet bits are worth trying. I especially liked the buttery, sweet chałka to pull apart over morning coffee. For a cheaper breakfast to bring back, Merkus in Metropolia has plenty of fresh baked goods. Two croissants cost just over a euro, and there are sweet and savory choices too. The staff were so helpful when I had to move my summer booking to the Christmas markets. At check-in and reception they spoke some English, or were very confident in it. I only know a few Polish words, so that help meant a lot. Wrzeszcz station is right nearby, and the train to the airport costs 5.50 zł, around €1.30. There are two big modern shopping centres close by, Metropolia, with a great food hall upstairs, and Galeria Bałtycka, which has all the designer stores you might want. From the tram stop at Galeria Bałtycka, you can ride to the city centre and old town. Tickets are about €1 for a single trip, bought at the stop and validated inside the tram.
