The thing that finally made us leave early was how stressful the whole stay became. We went home with two days of our holiday still left, which I've never done before. The hotel advertised a bar and restaurant, but the bar never opened, and the restaurant was closed for two days while the chef was away. I'd specifically discussed meals with the hotel before booking, because I'm diabetic and needed suitable bread at breakfast and carbohydrates with dinner. They assured me it would all be fine, but nobody mentioned the closure, even though we'd booked only two or three weeks ahead and it was already two weeks after high season. On arrival, my wife asked whether they'd ordered the bread for breakfast the next day. They hadn't, but ordered it straight away. That night we had to find food in town. It wasn't fully suitable, and I had blood sugar problems afterward. Someone could make me a special meal the following night, but not that first evening. The next night they cooked a basic meal I suggested, like what I have at home, though they didn't charge much. We had already decided to eat elsewhere the night after that. The third morning there was no bread I needed. The last slices of the first loaf had been eaten the previous morning. My wife had a bizarre conversation with the person organizing breakfast that nearly became an argument. It wasn't their fault they had none, since they only put out what was delivered, but I thought it was the hotel's responsibility to meet guests' needs. Breakfasts were nothing special apart from the bread issue, and we've had better at most hotels. We chose this place to get away from Gdansk's hubbub and be near the coastline, hoping for good weather in mid-September. The town is small, and online menus for local restaurants looked mostly unsuitable for my needs, so having a restaurant at the hotel mattered to us. We managed to find a meal in town that first night, but it wasn't completely suitable. Would we come back? Absolutely not.
