Wolf's Lair

The tour around the site gives a good sense of what it was like in its day, and it was a great experience. This is a legendary place for anyone interested in WW2. There are useful facilities for visitors, including a large parking area, souvenir shop, toilets, a hotel, and plenty more I didn’t get to see.

Nature is gradually taking this place back, and there’s an unsettling feeling as you walk among the ruins. It’s both scary and interesting. If you’re interested in WW2, the site is a must see. The amount of concrete here alone could have built a whole city, maybe two.

The visitor setup really stood out to me. The audio guide is easy to use, picks up your location automatically, and gives you the relevant information at the right time. Wolf’s Lair near Kętrzyn is fascinating, remarkably large, and very well preserved. The Second World War history and atmosphere, together with such well organized visitor services, made the visit memorable. I highly recommend it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and there are different activities around the area. There are plenty of ruins to look at, too.
