Hotel La Mar

The restaurant had a few good dishes: the shrimp were excellent, the tartare was fresh and tender, and the Caesar salad tasted good. But the salad had fried bacon, and the chicken pieces were cut so large it was awkward to eat. The steak was very spicy and undercooked, with uneven thickness that meant it cooked unevenly. Its juices soaked the fries underneath until they were soggy, with little left of them but their shape and name. The pork tenderloin, polędwiczka, seemed boiled and had almost no flavor, though it looked beautifully plated. The mashed potatoes were surprisingly tasty and unusual. One beer was poured into a used, dirty glass, which was off-putting and left a poor impression of the service. We were in Room 214, an apartment with two separate rooms, which was convenient. The TV was only in the bedroom, though, so it was inconvenient to watch anything while relaxing in the living room. There was a kettle, bathrobes, a fridge, and a large, convenient parking area. But the room was very cold and stayed that way throughout our stay. Towels weren't changed until the fifth night. Dirty glasses were left behind, no water was replenished, and shower gel wasn't replaced when it ran out. The toilet flush button was broken, there were soap marks on the sink at check-in, and the bathroom fan was extremely loud. After 8 p.m., the hotel lobby lights were off, making it hard to see, and the lobby smelled strongly of food. The hotel has potential, but the service, cleanliness, and attention to detail were poor. The room was cold and not well maintained, and cleaning was inconsistent. The restaurant dishes looked appealing, but both the quality and service were unreliable. Our stay was more negative than positive, and I can't recommend the hotel.

The breakfast was poor, and the rooms are small with bathrooms that look like they're from the 1970s. The building is simple and modern, but it seems designed by someone without hotel design experience. There are large spaces that aren't being used, perhaps for meetings or weddings. It would be okay for one night if you can't find anything better in Kielce.

The location is bad. The English is okay, and the hotel itself is pretty good overall.

The service and quality are okay for the price.
