MTB Hostel

We spent two nights here in our van and everything suited us. The kitchen and bathrooms are new, clean, and fully equipped, and the garden is a lovely spot to relax. The owner is lovely and makes everything easy. It’s a beautiful house, and we had a peaceful stay. Best hostel and van parking experience we’ve had around Zakopane.

The owners are genuinely kind, down-to-earth people, and they even helped us get back a bag we’d left in Krakow. The place itself is beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for everything 🫶

The woman who owns the place was warm and welcoming. The man, though, was rude and unprofessional. He spent 10-15 minutes yelling at us, apparently to put us down, when a couple of sentences about the rules would have done. I felt he was taking out a difficult time in his life on us. I didn’t feel respected as a guest, and I can imagine the owner blaming us for the sounds of walking, talking, or opening and closing doors. I won’t come back or recommend it, even though the place was cozy and acceptable. The house looks better in photos. It’s all wood, so footsteps and conversations carry, and the squeaky, rusty doors and noisy bed add to it. Don’t expect much quiet. The hostel is tucked away from the main road, with a dark, slippery path in winter. The only store nearby is a gas station. There are books and board games in the shared area, plus a projector. The bathrooms and sauna were clean and worked, but the sauna had no light, so it was dark in the evening. The water tasted and smelled disgusting. They say it comes from a natural well 80 meters underground, but I wasn’t sure it was safe to drink. The curfew rules also felt excessive. After 10 pm, we weren’t even allowed to talk in the kitchen.

The Tatra Mountains are right on your doorstep, so it’s a lovely base for hiking or mountain biking. Rooms come in different sizes, for sharing or couples, and they were clean with reasonable prices. Martin was a very friendly host who made us feel welcome and helped with anything we needed.
