Art Hostel

The mattress was comfortable, at least. Still, this isn’t somewhere I’d recommend staying. It may beat sleeping outside under a bridge, but that’s about the only comparison I can make.

The host was friendly, the location worked well and the price was low, but I wish I’d paid more for somewhere else. The smell was awful, the kind of stench that might only be bearable if you’re used to manure. The toilet was dirty, there were long black hairs all over the bathroom, and I was almost sure there was mold. I bought flip-flops because I didn’t want to catch anything. In my sleeping area, there were black marks on the wall that looked like mildew. It was also hard to relax with all the snoring, coughing and other noise. After I left, I heard there had been a fight between guests in the room. Possibly the worst hostel I’ve stayed at. If I go Interrailing to Krakow again, I’d sooner skip the trip than return.

Angela was really lovely, and I met some cool people who were staying there too. The location is perfect, right by the city center.

The owner was nice, but that didn’t make this place worth recommending. If you want a quiet rest, don’t stay here. The location is okay, though it doesn’t make up for everything else. The smell hits you as soon as you arrive, especially in the room where people sleep. It was horrible and made me feel like throwing up more than once. The other guests seemed very strange to me. I’m sure at least two people were living full time in the room shared by ten people. Most were men in their late 30s, and one guy even pleasured himself in the room. The sheets were changed after each guest, which was good, but they still had stains that wouldn’t come out, some white and some red. The floor was filthy, the bathrooms disgusting, and the curtains had mold. It sounds like material for a comedy show about a hostel full of odd people, and I’d watch that, but I wouldn’t go there.
